Default Moblie me and .mac push mail?

Please Login to Remove!

im not sure how many here are .mac users but it appears that the .mac email is upgrading to push. my question is whether this will be supported on all devices, or only proprietary ones (iphone and ipod touch).

any input?

Sounds proprietary:

Push email. Push contacts. Push calendar. In addition to Mac-to-Mac syncing, MobileMe now keeps your iPhone, your iPod touch, and even a PC in sync. MobileMe pushes new contacts, calendar items, and bookmarks to your Mac or PC, and over the air to your iPhone or iPod touch. For example, if you add a calendar event on the web, the change will automatically be pushed to your Mac and iPhone. New email will be pushed to your iPhone in seconds, eliminating the need to check for messages manually.

I too would like to see this option for the BB. Over the air sync of all my ical, address book and email would be ideal!

Yep it sounds great. I hope the transition from .Mac will be seamless. I think it'll be iPhone only but we could pray a little bit so that somebody manages to make it available for BB...
I'm just sad they're dropping Bookmarks online, it was really useful

EDIT: But we could still acces me.com from our BB but I doubt that the BB browser will support it as it seems very "heavy".

From what I have read, it is similar to Microsoft's Active Sync, which means the device will be doing the heavy lifting (iPhone). This means that the battery life will be drastically reduced.

Apple - MobileMe

proprietary, touch and iphone only.

I will be using the 60 trial when the 2.0 software comes out to see how it stacks up.

More than you think, probably.

I'm on a Blackberry by choice although that's probably due to the fact that the iPhone a) is on Rogers and b) wasn't available a few months ago when I needed it for work.

Not unhappy with the choice I made (I have an iPod Touch that I use regularly as my media device) but I am very keen to see what functionality v2.0 of the iPhone/Touch software will really enable me to have with the Apple devices.

I read a few days ago that there are 2+ million subscribers. This 2007 article already says 1.7 million.

What has me curious about MobileMe and the whole push thing is that the Apple apps will accept exchange for push. Third party developers might be able to take advantage of this, and mac users might be able to get push to work with their apple apps instead of Entourage. Time will tell.

are you saying that third party developers could maybe get MS Exchange to work with the Apple Mail, Contacts and Calendar? Sounds like a stretch.
The MobileMe suite will all be pushed from an Apple Server, I guess it could be possible but I think both Apple and MS would kill this as soon as they saw it happening.
But who knows.

But who knows.
With the right licensing, anything is possible. Who would have though MS would allow the iphone to use Activesync.
