Default disappearing emails

Please Login to Remove!

Blackbery 8820, v 4.2.2.184 on a BES (not sure of version off the top of my head) running Exchange mail. Also running a BIS for my personal email. I'm a support tech and not a typical user. This Blackberry has been working fine since January 2008 (that's when I received the device).

I had 96 unread messages on my Blackberry when I left work and while I was eating dinner, I received an email so I checked the Blackberry. I'm on-call so I do need to check it. I noticed that my un-read message counter was going backwards (I am on the home screen, using T-Mobile Zen). My email came up and I quickly exited out of it and looked at prior emails. I have only email on every day prior to Monday, June 23rd. They are still in Outlook but no longer on my BB.

I have the BB set to keep messages forever on the device. We do not have any BES policy that overrides this option. Our policy is mainly for a mandatory password and a couple of minor options.

I wanted to see what you guys thought prior to me removing my account off the BES and re-adding it back in. Or even wiping the device and starting over. Is the OS version I have unstable? Should I be running another version.

This is my 2nd time experiencing this. I also experienced this at another company, but using a BB 8800 and a BES on Lotus Notes. Is it just the 8800 series that have this issue? I don't recall having this issue on an 8700 or Pearl like this.

TIA

How much free memory do you have on the device?

Yeah, that's likely your problem. You're VERY VERY low on free space.

Delete some apps, themes, etc. that you no longer need.

Get yourself to where you have at least 10MB free. (10,000,000 bytes)

Hrm. I don't have that much apps/themes/pictures/ringtones on it. At least the pictures/ringtones should be on my 4GB Micro SDHC card.

Thanks for the help. I'll clean it up as best as I can and let you know.

I just encountered a similiar problem last night. Somehow I lost most of my incoming messages over a e day period. All my sent messages were still there. I use an 8820 (BIS 2.4) with rogers. I have a good amount of space free (19734280 Bytes). I have 4 different gmail accounts going to my phone, and just recently changed from forwarding the messages through gmail to using the accounts through pop/imap. The messages are still in gmail.

Same thing happened to me - twice in a week. Even after clearing out all but a few apps, best I can get is 13MB of free memory. Over the course of a typical day using the device for calls, email, etc, my memory dips to under 10 MB which is when I have to pull the batter or all my mail goes poof. I recently upgraded from a 72 series BB and never lost any email in over a year.

Default Same problem - different reason?

Hello,

I'm new to this forum and would really appreciate some advice. I'm on a 8708g which I've been happily using for almost 2 years, but it started having this 'randomly timed disappearing email' problem about a week ago.

So on the advice of the guy who came in to look at my Mac I changed to operating system 4.2.1.94 - which almost drove me mental because I lost my beloved Wave-List theme - and which doesn't seem to have solved my problem...
I have the keep messages limited to a modest 15 days and don't use many of the applications - but I do have a large address book.

I have File Free: 23964588... is this enough or do I need to upgrade to a newer handset?
