I've got it on an 18-person test server. I won't put this into production until it's included and supported in SP6.

It's currently enabled for 2 users. We've seen no performance issues based on this relatively small deployment.

I've tired enabling HTML support on our Domino 6.5.4 server. It's a no go. I guess the minimum Domino server support is 7.0.2 based on this thread. Here's what I got on the log:

BlackBerry Enterprise Server, Version 4.1.5.33
© 1997-2008 Research In Motion Limited
[ENV] Domino Version: 6.5.4.0, HF 0, FP 303431680
[ENV] Rich Content unsupported for current version of Domino

I hope HTML becomes supported with our version of Domino when HTML is officially supported by RIM.

We don't have any plan to upgrade to 7 or 8 anytime soon so HTML might be something we won't see for awhile.

OK - I have 4.5 on my device, and it's correctly showing HTML email delivered via BIS. But I can't get BES to work.

The BES is on SP5, I have the correct columns in the server and user tables, and they are stuffed with ones. I've rebooted the BES and re-sent the BES service books.

But on the handheld, when I receive an HTML email (from the BES account) it's just blank - no text or images, nothing. Yet I can get the plain text version just fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

P.

p.s. Quick thought - it couldn't be that this test rig is running against Exchange Server 5.5 could it? Has anyone else got the HTML stuff in SP5 working with Exchange 5.5 ?

Default Why is server upgrade needed?

Why does RIM require a BES upgrade to support HTML email, while Empower can do it with code on the handheld only?

Thanks! After upgrading Domino on the BES server from 6.5.6 to 7.0.2, I was successful with getting rich text/html email to work.

When BES starts, you should see the following message on the console:
07/02/2008 03:10:35 PM [ENV] Domino Version: 7.0.2.2, HF 0, FP -1528624904
07/02/2008 03:10:35 PM [ENV] Rich Content supported for current version of Domino

Also, our mail servers are still on 6.5.x, but the BES server is on 7.0.2. So you don't necessarily need to upgrade Domino mail servers to get it working. I have found the same behavior with configuring Notes-encrypted mail. Good luck?

This didn't work until I installed 4.5.0.37 on my BlackBerry Pearl. My BES is Domino 8.0.1 running BES 4.1.5 (obviously). I'm using MSDE locally without issue.

deanesn - Welcome to BBF!

Personally, I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you're well versed with SQL and you are also great a documentation and change management ... to keep track of these changes. That said, doing this might break functionality in future versions of BES ...

use the sql commands:

UPDATE UserConfig SET RichContentEnabled = 1 WHERE RichContentEnabled = 0
UPDATE UserConfig SET RichContentInlineEnabled = 1 WHERE RichContentInlineEnabled = 0

but qualify them with specific users such as:

UPDATE UserConfig SET RichContentEnabled = 1 WHERE RichContentEnabled = 0 and MailboxSMTPAddr = "hdawg@blackberryforums.com"
UPDATE UserConfig SET RichContentInlineEnabled = 1 WHERE RichContentInlineEnabled = 0 and MailboxSMTPAddr = "hdawg@blackberryforums.com"

or ... you could go into the SQL tables and simply change the values.

None of these options I'd recommend doing though.

I'm stuck here trying to get this to work. I've got a BES box with 4.1.5.24 with exchange 03 environment and a SQL 05 DB box. Blackberry deivce is 8310 running 4.5.0.52(75)

The BBupdate through me errors so I opened the DB and modified the dbo.ServerConfig and dbo.UserConfig - RichContent tables and the BESOnlyMessages to ((1)) from ((0)). Restarted the SQL server and the BES server, re-pushed the service books from the BES and I still do not see the enable html or the BESOnly icon.

Any ideas on what's wrong with my setup?

c:\bbdbrichcontent>bbdbpdate.exe -db <besmgmt> -n <localhost> -input enablerichcontent.sql

I get "system cannot find the file specified."
I must be in silly mode this morning. I can't figure it out.... Do I need to extract it somewhere else.

win2003/domino 7.0.3/BES 4.1.5/MSDE db

I do have a Virtual Server setup on this same box, but it's db is named differently and it's not even running at the momemt
