I live in Houston, TX. Speaking Spanish or the ability to pick up on some of the language is almost of a necessity! I am by no means fluent but can pick up on some words to somewhat understand the conversation, text, etc.
And of course I rely heavily on on-line translators (i.e. Google Translator).

I upgraded and I definitely have to say I notice a lag on my 8700g....not tooo severe, but its definitely there and definitely noticeable, especially when changing tones for alerts and such or scrolling through my calendar in agenda view
Its nice though, and there are definitely some features I appreciate in it.
And like most people said, the upgrade can take some TIME so bear with it - I sat there for at least ten minutes watching an hour glass praying I didn't just a butload of time and have to restore but thankfully all went well (so far)....

Are there any other details on this. My understanding is all BBs use the same processor, and are all based on the same stack over Java. So what is it that can not be supported on this for CDMA.
Not that I dought this I have herd this before due to patent issues, and limited number of network hardware venders. CDMA is generally play catch up. I am just curious as to what it is here with BBs

They use similar processors but not all the same processors.
They are all ARM based (from the 6200 series and up) but some are ARM7 and some are ARM9. The 8700 uses an XScale processor. The 8703 uses a ARM processor embedded in the EVDO chipset. The other's I'm not so sure about.
Also CDMA is its own protocol, loading GSM firmware on a CDMA phone won't work, just like you can't install ethernet drivers on a token ring network card.

Sorry to ask another question, but I have done a few searches of the forums and can't seem to find a definitive answer and this problem started today immediately after my upgrade.
Here goes:
TMO 8700g/BES
Upgraded from the latest Cingular release (509?) to 4.2
Previously used Wave Icons theme I believe. (Have tried a number of the themses on the device to see if it was theme related and no dice.)
I don't even have to explain the problem, it is adequately explained here with no apparent resolution:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...reen-help.html
I have searched around and found a couple other instances of it mentioned in the forum, though never with any resolution.
Any help or insights would be appreciated.
Thanks!

After having the 4.2 OS running since early this evening, I've noticed a few things:
1) Browsing and anything else that involved loading images was terribly slow. However, after half a day of use, it seems to have gone back to normal. I can't explain this, at all...it's just weird. The first time I opened the images folder in the media app, it seriously took about 3-4 minutes to load everything. Now it works just like it used to. I have no idea what's up. Browsing also went back to normal after half a day.
2) When browsing, holding ALT while scrolling no longer scrolls by page. What I mean is, before when I was on 4.1, holding ALT and scrolling down would be like scrolling down using SPACE (or page down on a PC). Same thing for ALT-scroll up. This no longer works. Holding ALT in the browser STILL scrolls by line rather than by page. I can't stand this. This alone might make me go back to the old OS.
3) The "Unlock" problem where selecting "Unlock" doesn't work and you have to hit * TALK. I can't stand it, as I was used to hitting the scroll wheel twice.
I'm just going to try not to go crazy before I can pick up an 8300...

Are you aware that OS 4.2 Handset software is not offically released on RIM? If you take a look at RIM/Blackberry site and you will find nothing relating to OS 4.2.
I spent about 45 minutes with a RIM technical person via T-Mobile customer rep. last night to resolve my e-mail problems (this has nothing do with the OS 4.2 which I haven’t loaded up). So I had to ask him a question about OS 4.2 Handset software. He told me that the one we saw is preliminary software. It will release publicly in real soon. My suggestion to you is to wait for the offical released software.

Of course T-Mo would say that, they haven't released it yet. Carriers release as they see fit, and apparently venezuela is ahead of them.
If it's on the RIM site, it's released.

So is everything in Spanish or in English? Or is it just the online form and error message that appear in Spanish?

No, it was not from T-Mobile. It was from a RIM Tech person.

This is an official RIM release, it's just not for tmo or cing. Does anyone else find it odd that this South American os has the at&t theme as it's primary theme? Is this carrier affiliated with at&t?

You missed the whole piont... this is not a MP3 player like the 8800 this is like any other phone with limited memory for some of your favorite ring tones up to 30seconds not an entire song like others want!!!

For those that are complaining about the unlock issue... My IT policy locks after every 30 mins of not being in use so this is a big deal but i dont understand why some of you prefer to double click... why not just enter your password... i accidently discovered this.. instead of hitting unlock then password just type the password and Enter or hit the wheel...
