Default Google Maps 1.2.3 won't uninstall.

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

First I tried to upgrade Google Maps 1.2.3 to 1.30 OTA. Everything seemed normal. However, after reboot I had two Google Maps icons on the home screen: One for 1.2.3 and one for 1.3.0. I then removed 1.3.0, but I did not have a way to remove 1.2.3 since it has no entry in the application listing. I then went and found the old 1.2.3 OTA link and installed without problems. Now I did have an entry in the applications listing. I then tried to remove 1.2.3which seemed to work, but after a cold reboot the "ghost" 1.2.3 is still there on the home screen in full working order, but the entry is gone from the applications listing again.

How do I get rid of this old version of Google Maps 1.2.3? Is there another way than using the applications listing under options? I am totally at a loss here since this old version simply won't go away!

You'll have to use javaloader to remove the module. Do a search on this site for javaloader and you'll find where you can download it (to your PC) and how to use it to remove the module.

Make sure the application is not running in the background. Press ALT+click scroll wheel. See if Google maps is showing in the 'task manager'. If it is, exit out and retry the uninstall.

Thanks guys,

That did the trick! The javaloader utility will come in handy in the future since I probably will mess up again...

FYI: I had version 1.2.2 installed and I had to click Options, Advanced Options, Applications, click wheel and select modules, then select gmaps7520_v4_0_en and delete it.

Must be 10 threads here telling how to delete the MODULE and not the application so that you can get rid of earlier versions of Google Maps.

Be careful with Javaloader.

Keep the latest OS handy in case you toast your BB.
