It makes perfect sense.

The sound quality for the new OS is much, much better than the older 4.2...and if you think it's sounds great on the loudspeaker, wait till you hear it on the earphones, with equalizers and all...

Really, really good for a smartphone..

Wirelessly posted (8310 Curve)

You could install with the 4.3 DM. I found the roxio was much more stable in the 4.3.
I also have 2 other OS on my computer. I have had no problem putting a new system on with out having to remove it.
I just don't understand why I am not authorized to view the page from my computer. This is strange never had that problem. My security settings have not changed. Windows XP home on gateway computer

The hidden icons reappearing seems to be connected to the BB Dimension Today Plus theme. When using the "regular" Dimension Today, they stay hidden.

But the ALT Enter still doesn't lock the keyboard.

when i upgraded to the .037 version of this OS, Google Maps and Blackberry Maps were both screwy. Google wouldn't work at all and the icon for Blackberry Maps disappeared. it didn't matter how many times i uninstalled and installed Blackberry Maps, the icon was never shown. can anyone verify that either or both of these apps wok as advertised on the latest build?

Not all carriers support BlackBerry Maps. If your carrier doesn't support it then you won't get a service book for it. If you don't get a service book for it you won't get an icon for it. Google Maps has issues with BES and Application Control Policies.

It will brick the device.

No, seriously...the OS just won't load. If the OS loads then you have nothing to worry about.

The vendor.xml file in many of these betas is empty so deleting it isn't always required. However, it doesn't hurt.

just choose to disable the language menu thingie, it should lock the phone.

although i have noticed that with the zen theme, it will not lock with alt-enter unless you are in the main screen and not the zen 5 icon part... strange but oh well.

Yep, just tested. Turned off the Language selector, went back out to the main (5 icon) screen of my zen theme, pressed ALT + Enter and it opened the application that was highlighted. Pressed menu to go to the screen with all the apps and tried again and it locked.

They're different builds -- just like software on your PC. Official releases are whatever versions the carriers decide to release.

Oops! Ignore that. I misread. John Clark has the correct answer below...

It's a CYA clause. The assumption is that the latest DM will give you the least amount of grief. Of course, the assumption is that the latest DM isn't buggy (not always the case). I'd say just don't attempt an OS update with a version of DM that's too many iterations old.
