I had really only downloaded this app to get at javaloader.exe really fast, but I decided to check it out. Anyhow, it looks like 64-bit versions of Windows really don't like choice.com being a 16-bit app and all that.

Ahh... funny what a little digging can turn up. The command "choice" is recognized by the system. All you have to do is rename or delete the choice.com in the JL_Cmder folder. All is well.

It was recently reported that resettofactory was not removing the IT policy on 4.6 or higher devices. I have updated JL_Cmder to version 1.9.1. The resettofactory function should now work for 4.6 and 4.7 devices.

Thanks, this worked like a charm!! Did not matter what I tried I could not get my Wireless bypass and desktop connectivity back.
I had a new device that had never been on a BES, but I restored from a device that once was and it brought over the locks even though I had deleted the IT policy

It helps if you don't just edit your post. You're welcome to post again when you have new info.
507 just means that the device is ready to load a new OS. Follow the instructions for upgrading/loading an OS.

I noticed today with 1.9.1 on my Bold, that resettofactory isn't quite what I expected.
When I rebooted, even with a battery pull a second time around, there was still a running thread application from 'before'.. and going into options and selecting applications, still shows all the installed applications still present inside the device just not 'visible' on the screen. Selecting the 'thread' icon was able to activate the program and offer to install itself.
So I now think resettofactory just erases the general BB preference settings and that's about it. This is despite the screen saying 'wiping'.
To really erase you still need to run 'wipe' from the security options inside the BB. This definitely deletes the background stuff/files. OS will still boot.
Then you can run jl_cmder's wipe which will remove the boot block.
However even when you run apploader, it can still see the old OS , etc. and offer to downgrade or upgrade as the case may be.
So from what I can see, there isn't really a 'true' wipe anywhere where the device gets zeroed out completely turning it into a brick.

resettofactory was developed for removing IT Policy.
"Wipe Handheld" will wipe all user data and all 3rd party apps if desired.
Javaloader's "Wipe" will, as you say, remove the boot block. Yes, some stuff is still there but you can't do anything with it.
You are correct that nothing really wipes it completely, however, everything one needs is available.

Having a bit of trouble.
Need to run JL_Cmdr to eliminate the IT Policy on my 8830.
However, everytime I try to download it and unzip it, all I get is a Desktop Shortcut that points to a non-existant location in the Program file folder.
I'm running Vista Business on a HP Laptop, any suggestions?
Is there a way to download it un-zipped?
Thanks!
EDIT: OK, I got it to load and run by selecting "Run As Admin". However, it has no effect on the 8830. It doesn't wipe any of my personal data, and doesn't remove the IT Policy. Suggestions? THANKS!

Hi:
Is it possible to capture the output of the "dir" command?
Thanks, this is a very usefull tool.
C95
********* Edited *************
Did it. If someone it's interested, the solution is:
javaloader -u dir >output.txt this file it's created in the JL_Cmder dir.

64 bit os vs JL_Cmder's CHOICE.com
BB Curve 8320 Tried to upgrade the OS and got stuck half way through (?) with JVM error 507. Now when trying to manually wipe the bb I get errors. Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit. Get errors about the apps not being 64 bit and to contact the vendor for an new version of CHOICE.com etc....

in the program files\jl_cmder folder, rename choice.com (or whatever it's named) to something else like choice-old.com.
try jl_cmder again.
you may also need to disable windows user account control (uac) or give the jl_cmder cmd file rights to run as admin. not 100% certain there.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)
If you already have 507 then you don't need JL_Cmder. Just connect to the pc and go to the same folder where the venfor.xml file was located and double click on Loader.exe.
JL_Cmder just wipes the device and leaves you with a 507 which you already have.

Worked Great
I tried getting my BOLD linked at work and they placed an IT policy on it that disabled my bluetooth desktop connectivity. This program returned my BOLD to good as new. Never do that again. I have to learn more about the device to be able to write progs for it, and make changes to the OS for mor control. Thanks agiain.
