Default OS: 8700 4.5.0.108/4.5.0.81 (English+EastAsian Languages)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.108 (English+EastAsia Languages)

This is for any carrier's 8700 model, not the 8703, not the 8707

Package Version: 4.5.0.108
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.81
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.78
  • File name: 8700EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel108_PL2.7.0.78_A4.5.0.81_ Voda_Australia.exe
  • File size: 61.02MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...19656875EE557C

Instructions for installing on ANY 8700 (regardless of carrier)

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed. If not, get it here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the OS file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

Thumbs down 4.5 on 8703e

Please clarify: "This is for any carrier's 8700 model, not the 8703, not the 8707"

Does this mean any carrier's 8700 except 8703? 73

Exactly. This is for 8700 ONLY like a 8700r or 8700c. It WILL NOT WORK with 8703 or 8707. Those are based on different firmware's/OS's.

It does not appear that Hebrew is available as part of the default configuration.

I have installed this OS on a 8700G on T-Mobile. I can not see any major changes with this version as of yet.

I am holding off on installing it on my 8700C on AT&T due to the fact that I have had issues performing Enterprise Activation after recent upgrades.

Eli - it does NOT include Hebrew. I installed 4.5.0.108EastAsian 2 days ago and just got my first email written in Hebrew and I cannot read it....
Hebrew is not included in the EastAsian pack...

Eli - I just found this thread by clevebb called "8830 os 4.5 and Hebrew rendering" that provides a zip file which you can download and install and get Hebrew reading and writing capabilities with 4.5.0.108 EasAsian - Thanks clevebb, it works perfectly!!!

Wirelessly posted (8700g)

Will it work for the 8705? Somehow I ended up with an 8705 from TMO. Weird. I know I had a bad 8700 and the replacement they sent was an 8705. In "settings, about" it does show 8705. TMO is always confused if I call and say it's an 8705. Anyway, wondering if the new OS will work on this phone. Thanks

So, somebody with an 8700c should click on the "8700v(TM)" choice? I ask because I don't see an 8700c-specific choice. I'm guessing the software is the same for T-Mobile and AT&T then?

8700v = 8700c for this purpose. Same thing. You are good. I have loaded on both.

Open WordToGo > Menu > and use the upgrade process to upgrade the DocumentsToGo. You will register, etc., just you don't need the PREMIUM, just the upgrade of the basic.

ok so i just installed this on my 8700g. first thing was that i cannot access the pre-loaded pictures. when i try it just hangs there with the hour glass. never loads them. it eventually starts playing my ringtone, but no one is calling. if i hit a button it stops for a second and then starts playing again. if i power off it continues to ring even with the power off. the only way i can stop it is with a battery pull.

strange.

Try it for a while after the battery and pull and post again.

I have this on two 8700s and neither user has complained.

ok i got that issue sorted out. took three battery pulls but it doesn't start my ringtone at random anymore. Now if i could just get docs to go to work. i will search the board for a fix for that.

strange though that my ringtone would just start without warning though.

every time I launch it it will tell me that Docs to go is requesting changes to it's application control permissions. I click view and then no matter what i choose next, allow, deny, save, discard, cancel, it closes. then that whole thing starts over again.
