Default Blackberry 8707v and Citrix ICA JAVA Client??

Please Login to Remove!

Morning all,

Has anyone managed to get the Citrix Metaframe ICA Java client working on a Blackberry 8707v?

Seems once again the Blackberry browser is the problem? I though it supported JAVA 100%?

Cheers,

Rob

Sorry I don't use Citrix, but your problem may be related to the issues with TCP/IP on the 8707v (that I use as well and keep hitting these issues!). The 8707 relies on MDS for data services. It doesn't (currently) support direct connection to the internet using TCP/IP. There's more information in various posts on this site and a BlackBerry KB article:

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. Not sure its that as this is all on a LAN nothing to do with internet. I have a local IIS web server with the citrix JAVA client.

I connect to the webserver http://192.168.0.x/citrix/desktop.html and it opens the page then is blank.

I think its more to do with the compatibility of JAVA???

With regards to your other reponse that the 8707v has no TCP settings is this why BBTV does not work? I have downloaded it but it won't let me connect?

I don't use Citrix but sometimes playing with 'Browser Configuration' settings might do the trick.

Did you try to enable 'Support Javascript' and 'Allow Javascript popups'
(if they were not already on)?
And also try changin 'Emulation mode' from Default BB to IE and check?

Hope that helps.

Hiya,

yeah I have tried that but nothing. I think the problem is witht hte JAVA. the handheld supports JAVASCRIPT and maybe not full blown JAVA. They are two different things.

I guess until this is sorted out it won't work. I real shame as with the Citrix JAVA client you can run a Terminal Server/Citrix connection in a IE window. Very cool for managing servers or even running apps.

Guess we have to wait?

Been hoping myself that a Citrix client for the BlackBerry would be released. Last time I checked there was no solution available.

I'm from the US and have gotten hold of an unlock 8707v. I use cingular as provider. Question: How come I do not get the G3 coverage? It only shows GPRS. EDGE is still a lot faster than the GPRS.

You'll have better luck if you post a new question as a new thread rather than hijacking an existing one...
