4.5.0.69 was pretty solid for me. Some slight issues with UMA handoffs (par for the course), memory leaks and other randomness.

Upgraded to .81 using normal procedures and was rebooting every hour, not by choice. Formatted my SD card, same problems.

Did a total wipe with javaloader, reinstalled .81 and only restored the databases I couldn't on my own (i.e. messages, but not theme settings) and now I am running for over three days with minimal memory loss and an overall better experience then .69...

Still amazes me the number of bugs that get out of RIMs door.

Yep,
Now I get a reboot every few hours. NEVER had that before. Only additional apps are Viigo 2.2.118 and BeeJiveIM 1.1. Gonna find out who the offender is.

vhato, do you think that could be the known media card issue?

the day that the new update came out, i immediately installed it - and didn't have any issues with the restarts unless last night.

i think it might have something to do with the active theme, as weird as that sounds. i decided to switch it up a little, and load the theme for verizon to my phone (net_rim_theme_105_zen_240x260_b.cod). after i activated that theme, i changed the background image to something more appealing than the verizon logo.

i had two restarts within 20 minutes of doing that. one was in the middle of sending a text message (literally, as soon as i hit send) - and the other was ending a call, and hitting end.

since that, i switched back to the theme i was using (non-carrier - vista zen) and all is back to normal, and i haven't had any restarts since.

soo - if you're having issues with restarts and such, it might be related to the theme you're using. but then again, maybe not.

Nope. It is not that. I have tested this one long enough now and I have tried everything possible. Themes, ringtones, programs - install & remove, clean install, nothing makes it work. In every single case it starts well and it works OK for a couple of days then it just starts restarting with no reason. It looks like the calls log and the amount of emails, sms, etc does affect the restart frequency. The more you have the more often restarts. Later in time, on more advanced stages it starts appearing another bug: Missing calls while the phone is on. (full signal) Had people calling me and the phone was "off" while actually the phone was on and they were at just 2 meters away. (testing)
I believe that the problem is caused by the memory allocation this time.

I Google searched a lot but couldn't find a faster download site.

Can anyone know of a fast download site to get this 4.5.0.81 for 8120 ?

akc786, you question has already been answered elsewhere. If you continue to double and triple post this question, you will be on vacation. We don't share illegal rapidshare links in the forums here.

Thanks.

I am also experiencing the random reboots now. I noticed my battery life has been horrible since loading this OS - I can only guess it has been rebooting and I just havent noticed it - thus using up the battery. Going to downgrade to my last install.

Oh yes, battery life is another issue I forgot to mention on my last post. Actually the battery will show you a very low level maybe after 2-3 hours (provided you've left it on charge over night) but if you pull the battery out and put it back in, it will suddenly show the real level of charge...

Rebooting is usually caused by certain files on the media card.

I remember reading that issue before, but in this case the same files have been on there for about my last 3-4 os upgrades and i've never experienced an issue till now...

Just give it a try with the media card out. If it still happens with the media card out, then you know it's something else.

I'm having the same problem. I took off the memory card but still having random reboots.

I think there is a bug in OS.

Yes taking out the memory card did nothing to fix mine either. I reverted back to 4.5.0.69 and all is well again. Looks like the official .81 has a major bug in it.

Funny... I was running fine for a week after doing a javaloader wipe and rebuild... now back to spontaneous reboots. Looking like I am going back to .69 later this afternoon as well.

Amazes me how something this big can get past RIM's QA. WTF are these canucks doing all day up there??

Default OS Update lost personalized ringtones

Upgraded last weekend and now have lost my ringtones that were set for family members and some important business contacts. Now I have to look at the phone again. Any idea where they went?

Also can't find where I had set them up to reproduce them again. Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Kirk
