Default Whitelist applications while blocking via policy

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I've been asked if it's possible to have a whitelist of approved applications while blocking all other downloads.

We have a policy for ‘Disallow Third Party Applications’ set to TRUE.
I've seen a couple of people ask similar questions but I've struggled to find a simple solution that still restricts the installation of other (3rd party) applications.

The solution in http://www.blackberryforums.com/bes-...tml#post317794 I found from a link in http://www.blackberryforums.com/bes-...-question.html is just too complex for me at this stage. I'm more service owner than BES Admin but the administration is done by a 3rd party so major changes come at a cost.
If this is the only way so be it.

We're happy to move away from using ‘Disallow Third Party Applications’ as long as we can control what is being installed.

Thanks (in advance and in hope ),
Matt

We use app whitelisting exetnsivley here and that's the only way as far as I'm aware.

Thanks guys,
Is there a good 'how-to' for whitelist?

A related question; I've been looking at the Policy Reference guide (Livelink - Redirection) and in the example applicatin control policies (pgs 157/158) it mentions the software cofiguration screen in Blackberry manager. I don't see this anywhere (we're on BES 4.0.4 Hotfix 3 (Bundle 11)).

Any guidance you can offer?

In BES 4.0.4 you'll find the software configuration tool in Handheld Manager not BlackBerry Manager.

They moved it in to BlackBerry Manager in BES 4.1
