I won't ask why, but no, you can not use Suretype, a system designed for the small form factor BlackBerrys, on an 8800.

I'm scared to ask why too but I'm puzzled (and will probably lose sleep over this). Why on earth would you want to use SureType on a qwerty????

Can it be done? I'm looking at my 8700c and wondering why myself. But.....can it be done?

do you mean sure type, or do you mean autocomplete?

Smile Telegraph Key

Along with not having SureType the 8800 is deficient in that it doesn't have the ability to send morse code. Another communication technology that I don't miss

I'm guessing you're new to the qwerty Blackberries. Rather than sure-type, I'll bet what you want is to program your autocomplete so that you can use abbreviations for words and other sorts of stuff. For example, I set double-keystrokes for things like mm so that it gets converted to '.' after I press the space bar, or set up wday to become Wednesday.

If this is not why you're asking then I can't imagine the purpose, because navigating through a list of word choices has got to be more time consuming on a qwerty than just typing the word out...

Why, and NO, and don't want it. While I liked suretype on the 8100 and saw the need for it on the limited keypad, I can actually type faster with the full qwerty keyboard of the 8800. It would slow me down to start typing a word, stop check and see if it found what I was trying to type, select, space, start typing again, etc. Having 8100 flashbacks

Just make some autocomplete entries... SureType's for the non-full qwerty devices.

The only thing I like about qwerty over suretype is while driving and answering emails (at stop lights mostly), I don't have to look too often at my words. Other than that....suretype!

Why does everybody gotta diss the Pearl for? Its good at what it does ... even very elegantly - though I have yet to have a problem choosing GOOD from HOME like an SE phone small words like and is driving me batty. But I still think its a typo thing ... as I've owned it just under 2 mths. I think 4 mths is a good timeline to judge the Pearl. Most ppl give it less than a mth.

8800, nice styling just missing WiFi :D
