Default DM 4.3 on Vista Ultimate won't Sync with Outlook 2007

Please Login to Remove!

After much trying and grief I managed to install DM 4.3 on my Vista 64bit machine. At long last no errors during install (UAC set to off, run as admin) and got it done in just a few minutes. The Software boots up without any drama and connects to the handheld right away showing the PIN as it normally should. Problem is when I go to configure sync, the only available application I can select are Yahoo! and ASCII importer/exporter. It is as if I don't even have Outlook on my machine. I use Office 2007 Ultimate and MS Outlook is part of it. It is also registered as my default E-mail client. Anyone seen this before? Any ideas?

I am trying to utilize Windows Calendar for a backup calendar for my wife to view at home, but I get the same two options. I would really love to see something other than yahoo Calendar.

On the other hand, I tried it with Yahoo! Calendar and it worked great and quick too

Maybe it is just a bug since it is an early release

I use Vista Ultimate 64 and Office 2007. No probs here.

But I have UAC on, and the install silently failed until I ran it 'as an administrator'. Once I did that it seems all to be good. Had the fully patched 4.2 in previously.

I did run it as administrator but I'm beginging to think that there is something wrong with my MS Office install. I tried reinstalling 4.2.2 and even 4.2.1 but it causes "an unknown error" when I try to configure sync.

Default further trials

OK, so I decided to uninstall 4.2.1 since it won't work anyhow. When I attempt to "configure sync" an unknown error occurs. I am going to uninstall Office 2007 and reinstall it fresh. Another curious glitch seems to be the lack of Media Manager. When I installed it on my XP Pro machine, everything worked without a problem on the first try. Somehow the new latest and greatest is not working out for me. Hoping that the SP1 release in January will bring good things to Vista 64bit

Yeah, Yahoo! worked for me as well but that isn't good enough for my needs. I would like to be able to sync with MS Outlook 2007. This is so frustrating since both of these products are very late to the table. DM 4.3 was released ages after both Vista and Office 2007 were released I can't accept that RIM chose to ignor that fact when engineering the product.
