I have just bought my Blackberry Pearl 8130 and im having trouble installing the desktop manager this is frustrating me! Yes I do have Windows Vista. I have attached the Error that it is giving me!

Did you try rebooting windows? I would also make sure there isn't a version of 4.3 that loaded onto your system. (bad install)... You can check your pin by holding down the alt key and typing race

If, when installing the Blackberry Desktop on a Vista machine, you get the following error, "Error 2738 Could not access VBScript runtime for custom action"

Do the following:

Go to Start\Programs\Accessories
Right Click Command Prompt and Run as Administrator
Type C:\Windows\System32 if not already there
Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll
Close the Command Prompt

Thanks it worked! Now onto some tweeking been away from BB for so long Ive almost forgot everything still trying to get used to it!

Your Blackberry PIN also appears on the box label, and if you go into Options and select Status, it will appear there as well.

i have probelms installi ng the updated version of DM 4.2.2.
after downloading it (4 hours) and uninstalling the previous version the comp tells me that the file is not a win32. hows that??? its a regular .exe update
can anyone help?

Have you tried to reboot windows? And was the file downloaded as a zip or an actualy .exe? And did you download this update from RIM or your carriers website or somewere else?

Hey ya'll, I am in the same exact position as some of you who are having the issues with installing the cd. I came to the issue of the error code 2738 and then I went to the command prompt and typed in regsvr32 vbscript.dll and it came up with YET AGAIN, ANOTHER ERROR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saying "the module "vbscript.dll was loaded but the call Dllregisterserver failed with error code 0x800004005.

I called HP and of coarse they could not help me, can they ever! Ive had to call them so many times with issues and honestly, I have not had one resolution from them...I just bought this computer and it had vista on it...If I new vista was this aggrivating, I would have NEVER got it. Im not a fan of vista!! Soooo Can anyone help me with the next error code 0x800004005? Thank you so much guys!!!! Looking forward to hearing from you!!!

1) Locate VBScript.dll file on your machine. Mine was in Windows/System32 folder

2) To to All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt, right click on it and chose “Run As Administrator”

3) Then navigate to the folder where the VBScript.dll file is residing (using cd commands)

4) Run the following command: regsvr32 vbscript.dll

I'm having similar problems to those indicated in this thread. I did the regsrvr32 vbscript.dll command and got a message that said it loaded but that said " module vbscript.dll was loaded but the call to DLLRegisterServer failed with error Code 0x80004005I" .

I loaded the most recent version of DM and when synching just the address book it reads 259 of 936 records and fails with the error code Intellisync 0x80040fb3. I was doing a complete push to the phone and it only loaded some of the records.

If I try to synch the calendar it runs for a few seconds, then the application just ends and disappears from the active desktop. It won't start again without me rebooting the PC.

I also get a message when I start Outlook that says that a file was not closed properly and it goes through the file validation.

I've reset the phone in between all of these attempts.
