Default BIS and Corporate Email

Please Login to Remove!

I apologize if this has been asked but I am dying to get a clear cut answer.

If I am on a Tmobile BIS data plan, and my organization has a BES server, and they add me on so I can get company email on my BB, would my gmail/public email go through the BES server? If so, would the Administrator have the ability to view my gmail?

Thanks

The clear answer: Once your BB is added to the BES, your admin can view, log, and pull what ever data, email, PINs, SMS, browser sites visited, phone calls made and to whom, which they wish to see.

Do they do it? Only they know.
Can they do it? Absolutely.

Thanks JSanders. I read that on the faq portion I believe. Going one level up, does this mean my Gmail is pushed or going through the BES server?

It may still be pushed to the device if you have it on your BIS, but know that your BES Admins can log that.

Now, all that said, I am not the BES 'xpert, so let's see what one who is will say. I know I have been told on here over and over and over again, if it comes through to the BES BB, the BES Admins can poll, pull, log and view whatever they want.

Your BIS mail will come directly to the device not through BES they can't control that but they can force all your replies to the BIS email to go through BES and as JS stated they can pull any info they want off the device.

Interesting. BIS/Gmail will come through the Tmobile network, but my replies to those emails can be forced to go through the BES server? Is this correct?

Also, it does seem to make sense that whatever email I keep on my device (whether gmail or company) can be viewed by the BES administrator..makes sense, but technically speaking, how wold they do that?

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

Well I am not a BES admin but I have seen the question a lot of times. They have to set it up but YES they can force your BIS replies to go through BES. They can access any data on the device if they chose to log it. This includes SMS and web activities.

In BES there is no options for stopping people from using BIS. What we can do is force all out going email to go through your corporate mail. From an InfoSec perspective, we care more about you telling people stuff than you hearing about stuff.
