Default 3:10 to UMA (its dead. I've reset and reloaded. help!)

Please Login to Remove!

I lost my UMA connection on Tuesday.
I've tried resetting the phone (battery pull)
I did a backup/wipe/restore
I even switched modems (apple to linksys)
nothing.
did I kill my phone inadvertently?
help! thanks in advance

@hdawg-4.2.2.180. do you think I should download that .184?
@dennis-they claim there is no outage on their end.
@jason-thanks. I was wondering if anyone would catch it after I hit send

Are you still connecting to your wireless router? I recently had a similar problem in which I had no UMA for several days. I finally got to troubleshooting it and was perplexed because I found I was still connecting to my router with no issue (meaning I had Wi-Fi, just no UMA). Since I was connecting to the modem, I assumed it was a TMO UMA outage of some kind. Wrong. I finally found out that the firewall on my router was somewhow blocking protocols and/or ports that was preventing my Curve from going into UMA mode. I moved the Curve's wireless connection to outside the firewall and UMA popped up immediately. Haven't had a problem since.

yes! HD, it has my network listed on the phone, and the wifi icon is lit up, but there is no UMA. how do I move the connection outside the firewall? does this mean I can go back to my apple router?

I'm not sure about your router, but mine allows me to connect directly to it using Internet Explorer to adjust it's settings. My router gives me the ability to block or enable various protocols, ports, firewall settings, etc. More specifically, I can specify that a particular computer connecting to the wireless port (in this case, my BB) be moved outside of the router's built-in hardware firewall (sometimes referred to as a "DMZ" or de-militarized zone). My wireless laptop and a second desktop, which also share the same wireless port, are still behind the firewall.

I imagine you should also have some means to connect to your router so you can adjust it's settings.

What error code do you get under wifi diagnostics for UMA? Go to manage connections >wifi options >menu key >Wifi diagnostics

Well, there is no guarantee of UMA with non-Tmobile branded equipment.

Have you tried running down to Starbucks or Kinko's to see if their Hotspots will give you UMA? Or wifi somewhere else? That'd tell you if it's more likely to be a problem with your phone or your home network.
