Windows Vista.... sigh......
Please Login to Remove!
I'm not much for rants or raves but since this forums is dedicated to it....
Windows Vista is really beginning to get on my nerves.
I've had Vista for a bit less then a year now and I've my on fair share of problems, trouble shooting, restoring, I never had a problem with XP, 2k...
The part that upsets even more is.... I am a damn IT professional, 7+ years exp, A+, Network+, MCSA, CCNA (soon to be CCDA), and Vista is even giving me a headache.... Keep in mind I don't go near my laptop much since I got my BlackBerry.... (I can't wait for 4.5 for Docs to Go, then I will need to go near my laptop even less)
I am seriously looking into a Apple or just getting a Linux box going, I've messed with Red Hat 7, Solaris 10, Ubunto, and I really thinking about going back.
So Apple or Linux/Unix (Whatever plays better with BlackBerry)..
Any of you guys using a Linux/Unix/Apple?
What are your expeirences with Vista?

I refuse to use vista at all. I just went past it to Server 2003. I still run a box with 98se, several with XP Pro, and of course the server. Every time i walk into Best Buy and they have all the vista laptops/PCs running, i set all the themes back to windows classic. Vista is much like ME in my opinion, its crap, released far too early.

I've had a had issue's just random stuff, with application compatibilty and USB devices, along with everyday tasks, I mean I've fixed the issue's but its just annoying that they happen.
Microsoft does plan on releasing Windows 7 next year so Vista is looking like the new ME.

Bill Gates says Vista's replacement, Windows 7, will be out in 2009. That and M$ decision to extend XP's life to 2010 says that even M$ is now publicly admitting Vista sucks.

oh they would never say it sucks... it serves its purpose very well. it gets people to update all their crap, and then hate it, so they buy the next OS. seems a very good business decision on their part

vista was poorly launched, alot of it has to do with drm's from what i read, and why the os sucks, in other terms its good, same as windows, windows ME failed on, xp gained on. over all it just proves 1 thing, new =! good / best
i remember i went from windows 3.1 to Slackware, then i got 1 box this one which runs xp for games/etc my Slackware box now runs Ubuntu and i like it more. games i use my xp box, everything else Ubuntu, oh and i need xp for dm and backups.

Micro$oft is pushing "Hasta la" Vista with computer manufacturers. Go to Dell (likely other manufacturers as well) and see how much less a Vista machine is than an XP machine.
I've even had friends buy the machine with Vista to get the better price, and then format the drive and load it with XP.

I won't use Vista either. I have all flavors of Vista from MSDN and have't used any of them. Maybe if I get a new PC, but that probably won't be until Windows 7. Or I might never buy another Windows PC and go with a Mac or Linux.

Late last year I had to buy my daughter a new laptop for college. After looking I got a Compaq with XPPRO SP2. My daughter was not happy as it was not the latest technology at the time but it worked and continues to work. Some of her friends Vista based computers have issues that appear to be BIOS related. I know Toshiba has some issues with some of their laptops and Vista. VISTA is not ready for prime time. Once Vista SP2 comes out then it might be worth looking at but for the time being XPPRO SP2 is stable and very usable. Don't get me talking about issues with the latest version of Office. Pure garbage.

Vista haters are just typical bigots (Vista is junk, etc.).
I've been using Vista on two different computers for months and months and it's been much more stable than XP ever was. I've never seen a blue screen, and I've never had a driver problem.
Find something else to gripe about people.
The Vista hating is just getting stale.
