WiFi for T-Mobile 8320
Please Login to Remove!
Hey guys,
I recently removed the data plan from my tmo plan. And now when I try to browse the web when my curve is connected to my router, it wont connect. I tried multiple appz such as Gmail app and Browser - and it wouldn't connect.
Also, another question is; does the BlackBerry Messenger needs to have the data plan to function? b/c my gf have the 8100 and she don't have the data plan, but she have the unlimited texting - and her BB messenger works fine.
I also have unlimited texting - but my BB messenger doesn't work :(

I dont think you can use the browser without having a data plan. I also believe that you also have to have a data plan to use BB messenger because it uses data to send messages back and forth. I dont know how your gf is doing it but I am pretty sure that she has to have a data plan or she is using yahoo messenger to text (which coincides with texts)

Now that you took the BIS off, you should only be able to use the Browser while on wifi. Make sure you change your Browser Configuration correctly.
Also, I dont know how your GF is able to use BM, because you do need a data plan for it.

Yeah i thought I would be able to browse and use other internet appz while im connected to my router. I know that my phone is connected to my router bc it has the UMA instead of EDGE. also, since i dont have the BIS, shouldn't it be "edge" instead of "EDGE"? cause mine says "EDGE" when im away from home. weird..
Is there a specific settings that i need to configure in order to get the internet working when im connected to the router?
as far as the 8100 is concerned, i am wondering if that phone uses the SMS feature for BB messenger...

You are correct about the edge and EDGE. How long has it been since you took the BIS off? My guess is, your Carrier took the BIS off of your plan, but Blackberry might have you on their servers still.

Maybe there is a loophole where she got all the service books too? Thats why Blackberry Messenger works?

I think i read somewhere on here saying that it takes Blackberry a 7-10 days to update the user accounts on their end. You should see if this persists within the next week or so.

TMobile has a "Feature Enabler" that's free that enables BBMessenger to work as it's considered part of the Instant Messaging that the BB supports.

Ah, thats right. The Enabler, forgot about that. Its T-Mobiles way of allowing users to send/receive MMS and IMs for free. Thanks John!

you most likely need to enable the default browser to be the wifi browser and not any of the other ones like blackberry, internet or t-zones.
You will find this setting under options -> advanced options -> browser
