Default 8830 Keypad hard to read

Please Login to Remove!

My dad has an 8830. I mess with and like it alot, but the keypad (number/letter keys) are extremely difficult to read (compared to for example my 8310). Part of the problem may be the blue backlight. Is it possible to change the color of the backlight with some 3rd party app? (I know there are apps out there that will allow you to change the color of the track ball, but....).

thanks

You can't change that backlight, sorry. You can't change the color of the trackball on the 8830 either.

You aren't the only one to have an issue with that keyboard, and I agree the 8310 is much better IMO.

I changed the shell on mine from silver to black. The black keyboard is much easier to read. There's a thread in the 8800 forum on this.

I changed JUST the KEYBOARD to black from Verizon's Silver with blue-lights. The BLACK keyboard and WHITE lights are much easier to read both day and night. I ordered the QWERTY keyboard from CNN. It was not hard to remove the old keyboard and add the new one - just four screws and a bit of prying of the siderails.

Same as above. Change the shell and key pad to black and it is exceptional. Not hard at all just makes you nervous to crack it open.

If its any consolation, you will get used to the keyboard to some extent. The 7xxxx models have easier keyboards to read.
