Default Request to RIM for Level One on phone calls

Please Login to Remove!

Disclaimer: Any day now my wife is going to give birth to our first child. If this post sounds distracted, well, yeah!

I'd like to set up my 7750 Blackberry (4.0 OS) to give notificiation from her phone number when she calls to say "Hospital Now!" Other incoming phone numbers... not as important.

I have read the forum post about Level One Messages

I understand that (today) Level One notifications are only for email.

I don't want a distinctive ring tone for my wife. What I want is to prioritize her calls so that the phone rings. All other calls can just flash the LED. I can do this with the email: Big Brother alerts make noise. All other email messages do nothing.

I want that functionality with phone messages. Any suggestions? I mean, besides raising the issue here, hoping RIM sees my post, and adds it to an OS upgrade...

Thanks in advance.

You're kidding right?
You want RIM to redesign the OS and have it ready for distribution, before your wife gives birth in a few days?

Yeah... I'd say you're a little distracted.

My intent was to put in a request for the feature. Of course I do not expect an OS redesign to be done in days. If the feature arrives in a future OS upgrade, great.

I thought perhaps someone reading the forum might have an idea or a hack for prioritizing her phone call.

This forum is not actively monitored by RIM employees, most likely.

David,

You might want to check out the Notifier software. It might let you set up the type of notification that you need. You can see a review of it at Blackberry Cool http://www.blackberrycool.com/2005/07/11/00630/.

And if Notifier CAN do anything with voice calls, please let me know how. I actually bought it thinking it would HELP with voice calls. NOT.

OS 4.1 will let you assign ringtones to people.

Until then, rename her phone to "Hospital Now"

I realize this is a non-blackberry answer, but for something like this you should rent a pager for a month. It's cheap, should be hassle free from your service provider and will guarantee you won't miss it.

Good luck!

Umm.. I think you're a little late on this one....

I'm sure the baby is a few months old already.

I agree... that drives me up a wall.
Wish there was a way to automatically flag a thread as read-only or lock it after a certain period of time.
