Question 3rd Party Apps. (How many is too many)

Please Login to Remove!

I recently updated my OS to 4.5 on my curve 8320. I know with every OS there are memory leaks that vary due to differnet factors (i.e. 3rd party apps. etc....)

My question is, how many 3rd party apps do you have installed? I want to see how I compare to what other have installed.

Here is my list of apps that I use and probably could not live without. With the installed 3rd party apps mentioned below, I am still running about 15-19 mgs free (Thanks to JC optimization Guide) which of course fluctuates.

Jivetalk
BB Alerts
BB Smart shortcuts and Alarm
Viigo
BB Weather
Berry 411
Fox news Launcher
ESPN Launcher
BBF Wap
QSMS (SMS Launcher)

There is no certain number of apps. I now have about what you have, plus maybe a half dozen more. I have counted as many as 30 in the past.

Thanks JS. I felt as if I would go overboard sometimes installing stuff which always decreases the memory.. I actually held off installing Docs to go for now.

hmm, if you don't have DocsToGo loaded, you may have JiveTalk and other third party apps. It's been discussed in some of these threads on 4.5.

I don't think that's entirely true. I've run many OS loads without losing memory over time.

How many apps are "too many" for your PC?

Not sure what you mean takeshi with respect "too many" apps for PC? It is known that 3rd party apps can take your memory down especially with app. which run in the background.. Further, I said it "varies" from each BB users habits, apps. and other factors.

JS, are you referring to the issues with Jivetalk not working without Docs togo on OS 4.5? Jivetalk and all my installed apps. have worked flawless for me since the upgrade (thankfully)!

it is only too many if your phone can't handle it any more.

I was referring to that issue. Several users have had to make sure DTG was loaded.

Thankfully I have not encountered those issues. The only problem that I had was with my calendar entries dropping on my home screen with Today themes. I solved that by deleting the ical service books. So far so good! (fingers crossed).
