Default Possible battery failure?

Please Login to Remove!

Alright, so i was one of the unlucky few to get the 8300 the week it came out from Cingular/ATT. (Soon afterwards came the 8310, which i was SUPER pissed about) but thats besides the point. I have had this phone AND battery since then.

Now i have never REALLY had that bad of a problem with the battery. At most maybe just short battery life.

But the last few weeks my battery is HORRIBLE.

Just today, i charged my phone all night, woke up and went to my college. It had not been off the charger for more than an hour when it went dead. After 5 shut downs (0% battery each time) it came up with 75% battery?? yeah weird.

Went fine all day then when i was walking to my car it shut off in my pocket.. it restarts three times, i say screw it and plug it in the charger in my car. It had 0% battery. I brought it home charged it until 20% and took the battery out to take the pictures below. I turn it back on... 100% full.

Weird or am i just crazy? Below is a picture of the battery and the connectors of the phone. Can anyone give me some good judgement on whether its the batteries time to go?

Thanks,

Evan

Try taking an eraser and cleaning the contacts on the battery. Then let it charge for a few hours and see what it says.

I think the battery "meter" within the BB is off. It tries to keep track of your battery charge, and I have seen similar (maybe not as extreme) reactions from a battery before also.

Let your battery drain to about 15% the next three times, and fully charge it to 100% each time. That "might" help reset normalize the battery meter in the BB which displays the charge percentage.

Meanwhile, for a low price, good batteries can be had from ebay for an extra.

i am currently on 4.5.0.75, do you think upgrading to 81, could possibly help reset the battery "meter"?

No, if anything, I think doing what I posted might help.

Your battery could be perfectly fine, and with the age on the battery, it could be going bad. Doing as I described and seeing after a few days might give you a clue as to the issue. If it just won't keep a charge, you need a new one. But the process above will help you determine that.

We'll see, cause i've done that the last two days and to no avail. but i'll try a few more days, to see if it can reset itself so to speak.
