I get new messages on my BlackBerry messenger and I when I open up the messenger I can see the yellow smiley face to the left of the contact who sent me a message. When I click on their name to see the new message, the new message doesn't appear in the conversation box but it still shows our previous conversation and what I previously sent to them. After I open that conversation box, it still says my message is unread. If I go through the messages application, I can see the name of the sender and the beginning of the subject of their message but if I try to open it, it's the same thing as before where it doesn't show the message in there and it doesn't mark the message as opened after I clearly opened it. Im BB Messenger, scroll up to the top, under "conversations". Can you open it there?

If all fails, with the BB powered on, remove the battery and reboot the device.

I am having the exact same problem as the OP. I have other issues as well, that seem to be localized to BBMessenger. All of my active conversations have dissapeared, and some of my contacts are gone. If I start a conversation, it is ok for 2-3 messages, then I get the alert tone that I recieved a message, but nothing appears in the window. Also any conversations that I was having become closed. And some of my contacts are disappearing from my list. Any ideas? I tried power cycling, but it did not help.

Power-cycling? Sounds like an Olympics event, not for BBs.

Try leaving it powered ON, remove the battery etc etc.

Also having the same issue when I send messages from my 8830 to my friend with a Pearl. I always see her messages no problem, but when I send messenger to her about 5% of the time she gets it in the inbox but not in the BB Messenger area.

We've done all the basic power cycling and resetting that you can do, so there appears to be some other issue going on.

Welcome to the BBForums.

There is a BBM option to put the BBM conversation in the Message list. You might want to turn that feature on or off on her device.

Yea we tried that too, results in the same issue.
