Default Delete user from BES, then add new user with the same phone

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I am trying to find the procedure for deleting a user and adding a new user with the same phone. (Apologies if there is already a thread for this I wasn't able to find one).

From past experience it isnt quite as easy as deleting a user with the the right click option then adding the other user. When I delete a user, do I have to wait 72 hours for this phone to be reset? Also, does the phone need wiping/resetting first?

Thanks

Apologies if this is not what you are looking for, but I am slightly confused by your post (i.e. not sure what you mean by "do I have to wait 72 hours for this phone to be reset?")

I would suggest:

a) Delete User A from BES.
Let the process do it's thing, no rush here as you do not appear to be attempting to re-add this user to BES.

b) Add User B to the BES.

c) Take the BB from User A and wipe it.
The wipe needs to be done before redeploying the BB to a different user, else you are going to get all sorts of data passing back into a new user's address book, user B will see user A email (bad) etc.

d) Generate an Enterprise Activation password for User B
You can do this on the BES

e) Setup (wiped) BB for User B
EA is probably the easiest way...

p.s. If you really want to remove User A faster, delete them in BES, then click on (BES SERVER NAME) > Users Pending Delete (tab) > Click on User A > Click on "Purge User"

However, I'd just leave BES to do delete in it's own time, as from my understanding of your situation, there is no need to delete User A quickly.

Hi Jadey,

Thanks for the quick update, that is perfect. Sorry for my bad wording regarding the 72 hours, I just meant that I had read that if you want to delete a user you have to wait 72 hours for the user to be completely purged/deleted from the system. We wanted to do this quicker than that so the manual 'purge user' option is a good one.

However, in BES 4.1 I am still unable to find the 'Users Pending Delete' tab?? Does this only appear if there are deleted users still in the pending delete queue? - I have deleted the user and on the home page this has gone down by one user so it appears to have worked already.

Thanks

The users pending delete tab should always appear. If there are no users in it, then the option to purge them is hidden, but the tab should always be there.

FYI: Mine is a Domino BES, I honestly don't know whether Exchange works differently?
