Default Modifying default BB messaging app

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I am new to BB app development and really need help. I need to modify the behavior of the default BB messaging app so that when a user click on a menu option when viewing a msg (say, Reply), my application gets called ... it displays a msg ... then based on the user's input, returns the control to the BB messaging app. Is there a simple way to do this?

I am thinking of writing my own message application to send a reply ... but how do I get the BB message app to call my application when the user selects "Reply" from the menu?

I would appreciate any pointers!
Thanks.

Don't think this is possible. However, you can add your own menu item to the program using ApplicationMenuItem and ApplicationMenuItemRepository.

Thanks for your reply. That is what I thought but I wanted to hear from others.
If anyone else has any inputs on this, I am keen to find out.

I might build my own app that does pretty much the same thing as the built-in messaging app with the added feature. It is an overkill though.

you can send a message very simple. if you select "reply with myApp" from the menu in the message application you can open your own edit screen that displays the message and sends it on click on a button (for example).

you can not modify anything in the native apps except for adding a menu.

Thank you. That's a very good idea ... I can add my own menu item that takes the user to my application when replying.
