I have a reoccuring problem with my 8700, where an incoming call will show the number, but not the name...

If you miss/answer/reject the call and then go into the list of numbers, it then appears in the list as a 'name'.

This is something which happens abour 30% of the time, but I can't find the pattern of how to reproduce it.. I was speaking to my colleagues who also have 8700s and ALL of them see this problem, even though we are all running different versions of firmware).

Is this a known problem? Is there a fix or workaround?

You don't specifiy how any of your or the other users' settings are set... but:

Sorry.. I didn't give much away and I alreay looked at the FAQ but it doesn't help.

In general (say 70% of the time), I see the name.. But the rest of the time I simply get the number.

So in general it works.. But not always. In my case, I do have "content protection" set to ON and it can't be changed (as its enforced by my corporate policy).. BUT. This can't be it as most of the time I DO see the incoming callers name!

I have been doing a bit of searching and found a post from someone saying that its a "Feature" when the unit is 'locked'.

I tried this and it does not appear to be the case.. Consistently atleast... I have a feeling that its a combination of whether its locked and if holstered, but I can't work out a pattern to make it happen every time.

I don't think that its a bug, as I all of my colleagues are seeing this and we are all running different firmware (some 4.1.. Some 4.5 and me the latest 4.5 version)

I think I know what the problem is.

Your device is probably set to lock after so many minutes of inactivity.......

For security purposes, when it's locked, you can receive calls, but you wont see the name..... only the number.

If mine is locked, and I get a call, it shows me the name.. As well, if your colleagues are seeing this happen, maybe there is a prob with your provider.. the CallID info is from them also.. Does it do this with people who are in your address book or just when they are not in the book?

i get this all the damn time!! very frustrating as i dont know thatmany of my contacts numbers of by heart!
does seem to be when its locked it does it, have followed the steps in the faq and will see if it makes any differnce to mine!

I had the same issue. Your device must have been locked!

update o this, mine now rings as per individual tone and disp[lays the picture of the person now wether locked or not!
ideal! much better as now i can ignore the people i dotn want to talk to hahah!
