Default Unlocked 8120 on T-mo, no UMA, tried everything

I apologize if this is a repeat post, though I can assure that I've done a thorough search and have not found my particular issue.

I have an unlocked 8120 on T-mobile using their OS 4.3 from the website. I have no UMA options whatsoever on my phone. I have followed directions from several sites to try to remedy this problem, from re-sending service books to wiping (bricking) the phone and re-installing OS 4.3. I've run Wi-Fi diagnostics which do not show any UMA related information.

Some other issues that I believe may be related: I can't use the "T-zones" icon or the "manage internet email" icon--both result in a connection error.

I've been told on another forum that because my phone is not a "branded" T-mobile phone that it uses a different chipset and that UMA is not available on my phone. I find it hard to believe that a fully unlocked 8120 would not be able to utilize all advertised functions from T-Mobile as well as how likely it is that my phone and a "branded" phone would have different hardware that prevents my phone from using UMA.

Please help!

Welcome to BB Forums.

What you were told is correct. Only T-Mobile branded phones can access UMA on the T-Mobile network.

NJB is correct. You can't get UMA on TMobile with a device from another carrier. It's not a chipset issue, but more of a deep programming issue. It can't be changed by anyone but RIM (they program them from the factory.)
