Default 7105t & 8700/Electron coming to T-Mobile

Please Login to Remove!

Just confirmed with my T-Mobile Rep that there will be a new 7105t coming out in a couple months. Basically, the same as 7100t but with a good many upgrades. Also, this might be old news to some, but there's an upgrade on the t-mobile website to get the latest 4.0 handheld software. I had 4.0.1.98 or something like that. The new is 4.0.2.32, which is supposed to take care of the call quality. Saw some posts of folks that said they downloaded the new software and still had problems, so once again not sure if this is old news or not.

I also confirmed that T-Mobile WILL have the Electron once its released. I was told early 1st qtr.

7130t is what I was told it was going to be called.
4.0.2.49 is the new handheld code.

I've been told that 4.0.2.49 is imminent (but no dates). I have no idea when the hardware revision to the 7100 (7105/7130) is coming out. Then again, I never asked

And thanks dolo - I am doing very well!

NJ, I was told less than a week ago that it was going to be the 7105t. When I was shown the unit about a month ago, it was also called and introduced as the 7105t. Maybe they changed the model number last minute...?

Two weeks ago, I was told that it would be 3-4 weeks before launch for the 7105t. The software revision for it and the 7100t/7290 will be available at that time, if I'm not mistaken (that was alluded a few weeks ago, as well).

The 8700 series model has been cited on here multiple times as being early Q1 for TMO. I'm not sure where the 'new' information was gathered, but I know I have personally stated the same information well over a month or two ago on the dates. The 7105t has been pushed back, as it was supposed to be released just after the EDGE upgrade for the TMO network (which was supposed to be Sept 1).

Very possible there is more than one device, and I could be talking about something different! Here's a quote I was given - "7135 is an EDGE BB in a 7100 form factor. Not ready until sometime in 2006."

I asked my source about a 7285 <?> because when I installed new code for the 7290 it displayed "7285/7290" on the handheld install screens!

ahh, definitely a different device then. very nice to know they are coming out with the small form-factor EDGE device, then.

so i guess that does let us know the EDGE and EVDO devices will be 7130s...

the 7105 is simply a correction for all that was wrong with the 7100 models (screen, keyboard, keys, etc).

Food for Thought...

The Blackberry 7100t has been pulled from T-Mo's Handset Upgrade program.

I was told today there will be a device OS upgrade coming out next week and will fix voice quality issues. I was also told there would be some type of upgrade to make the 7100 viewable in sunlight - can't remember if this will be part of the device OS upgrade.

the OS upgrade should be out within the next 2 weeks (most likely next, but could be pushed back one more). from what i was told, if this software did not fix most people's issues with voice quality and bluetooth volume, then it was beyond their ability to fix it within OS 4.0.

as for the screen, its the 7105t.

I don't know if we can read anything in to this, but the only Blackberry available on T-Mobile's website is the 7100. I know that as late as yesterday the 7200 series was available, and earlier this week I believe there was another earlier model available.

Maybe I'm just thinking too optimistically, but maybe something's about to hit...

What version code did you install and where did you get it from? Could you post a link please?

Yes, I see that. It is kind of weird. The 7290 should be there... I am thinking it is not there so they (T-Mo) can make some changes to the description. It has only been avail to consumers, not prosumers, sing the spring. I can not believe they would be dumping it this soon.

We will soon see though...

i'm sure it has more to do with it not necessarily being a consumer device. it is available when you click on Mobile Professional on the Business tab.

Now both business and personal have gone back to regular price. Anyone have a screen shot of the free pricing?

Good to hear, great to see that you are still going strong modding and sharing knowledge.

Off to grab a beer now!
