Default Jivetalk - Battery vs RIM apps

Please Login to Remove!

I know Jivetalk is awesome. I used Beejive on iPhone before I switched to my Bold. I have a question about it's battery usage, which I hear is a lot.

How does it compare in battery usage, particularly on the Bold, when running Jivetalk connected to AIM and Google Talk vs. running both of those applications as downloaded from the BlackBerry Mobile site? Does it use the same or more battery?

One app running is always better than two or three. JiveTalk is not too bad on battery life, at least on my curve.

Get the full user license. if you have to get a replacement device for any reason you'll want to be able to transfer it. It's well worth the extra $10 as I've transferred mine twice already.

Is it transferable forever? What about upgrades? Are they included for the life of the product?

Yes. Even the device license gets upgrades. I almost guarantee that at some point you will be mad at yourself if you don't get the fully transferrable user license.

Even if you can't find a coupon code, JiveTalk is one of those rare apps that will be worth every single penny you'll pay for purchasing the full license. I too have transferred my license twice and am using it on my 3rd device. It doesn't clobber your battery either.

Do it, you won't regret it.

AND.... A little birdie told me that the next update will include buddy icons for Yahoo, and Facebook IM will be included as well.

Too bad that little birdie didn't tell me when it was coming out! LOL

I sent the folks at Beejive an email about Facebook IM support a few weeks ago (to which they responded in a matter of hours....very nice). No specific date, but they did say it is planned for deployment in the 1st quarter of 2009. Looking forward to it.

x2 -- definitely get the user license. You never know when you'll switch devices or end up with a warranty replacement.

Wirelessly posted (8300)

Rumor has it. (Also spoke to jivetalk). They will have the option to display ims in the message (mail) list. Just like rims apps do.
