I keep my Blackberry in my pocket and so utilized its standby mode (entered into by holding down the mute button) often. The other day I held down the mute button and it did nothing - this is still the case. The button still works because it will mute a phone call or a song I am playing, but holding it down no longer brings the device into standby mode.

Any suggestions?

I had this problem with my 8100. I could fix it by doing a battery pull. It would recurr every once in a while and went away completely with a recent OS update

Thanks. That's helpful. I had to take my phone in to the store the other day because it had somehow disconnected to the data network and needed to be re-registered. This made the mute button work temporally with standby, but stopped again a couple days later. Hopefully it will just get fixed permanently on an upcoming software update.

I had this problem also, till I realized the phone needs to be at the home screen for it go into standby. If you're on the phone screen it won't work
