I am replacing my Pearl with a curve. I have done the device swap from Desktop Manager, but it didn't do a great job. I have not downloaded the device software to my PC yet but intend to put the latest from Alltel (4.5) on there.
My question is do I need to uninstall the old device software (Pearl) or can I install the curve software over it?
The upgrade will install over the existing OS. It is a good idea to perform a wipe periodically however, so it wouldn't hurt if you ran JL_Cmdr and did a factory wipe, then installed your new OS.

You can have OSes for multiple devices on your computer, the Curve OS will not write over your Pearl OS. I've had the OSes for 4 different models on my pc at the same time with narry an issue.
