Hi, I'm hoping fellow BES Admins are experincing the same & can help me verify & find root cause of a problems we're seeing with our BB users (with delegates) & missing calendar entries.
We're currently running BES 4.0.2.8 (SP2) / Outlook 2003 SP1 / E2K3 SP1 < cdo.dll 6.5.7232.65 < ill get to cdo ver a bit later...
We've seen a couple of common scenarios which BB users will lose calendar entries from their Outlook.
Scenario 1.
B is a delegate of A.
C sends A a re-occurring meeting request.
A accepts on Blackberry & meeting is accepted normally & is displayed in Calendar normally.
B (who receives a copy of meeting request) deletes meeting request.
A loses meeting request (entire series) from calendar.
Scenario 2.
B is a delegate of A & meeting requests are cc’d to B
Meeting Request is sent from C
B deletes cc’d meeting request (doesn’t matter if read or not)
A accepts meeting request on Blackberry (red ‘cross’ next to message)
Meeting requests removed from A mailbox, no Outlook calendar entry for meeting request (still on Blackberry)
We've found that if the delegate (ie 'B') uses Outlook Web Access (ie non-mapi client) or a prev Outlook client (tested w O97), the issue does not occur, and we should all know by now Outlook 2003 & cdo aren't exactly 'compatible' - there's several good KB articles re how Outlook stamps entryid with 4th entry, cdo 1.21 expecting only 3.
We applied below hotfix (prev cdo 6.5.7226.0 ) & found some interesting results
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;887595
Scenario 1.
After the hotfix, meeting is NOT deleted, it stays in tact & everything is how it should be – the hotfix does completely fix the problem outlined in article.
Scenario 2.
After the hotfix, when A accepts on Blackberry, there is no logner a red ‘cross’, there is a ‘Tick’ and status is showing as Accepted – BUT meeting IS deleted from Calendar, BUT this time, the original meeting request is NOT deleted (although it is marked ‘read’ it remains in the Inbox, not sent to Deleted Items) – the User MUST accept the ‘read’ meeting in Outlook for the Calendar entry to show & users can easily miss this & again miss the meeting).
So, I'm really wondering if any other admins out there have seen the above & have figured out how to fix the issue with deleted calendar entries?
