Lightbulb Best Apps for your 8330

Please Login to Remove!

Hopefully I'm posting this in the right section.

I've had my 8330 for a little over a week and love it.

Thought I'd start a thread to see what your best, "can't live without" apps are...

So far I've installed Viigo, Slacker, AIM, Facebook and Google maps, I also use the installed Sprint TV & GPS.

Looking forward to see what everyone else is using.

Bren

Welcome to the forums.

If you instant message frequently, you may want to look into BeeJiveIM. There are a few other browsers you may be interested in, such as Opera Mina and the Bolt Browser (which is still in beta). A new app I installed and love is BuzzMe, which allows the phone to ring and vibrate simultaneously.

It all depends what you're looking for. Check the after market section of this forum for a lot of great applications.

I hear ya Brenakie! I finally got the Curve about the same time you did. After being a Treo User for years I must say how impressed I am with the BB. I love it!

Now for apps, here are a couple that I chose right away...

Roblock- Theft Recovery - Search for Roblock here on the forum (I dont have enough posts yet to supply you a link)

OperaMini - Web Browser - Opera dot com slash mini

I also installed eOffice 4.5 - But I removed it after receiving 197 emails from the DynoPlex thanking me for trying the software and offering me assistance.

I may reinstall it and use it later as it appears to be very functional if you deal with MS Office type documents.

Also, a demo of Documents To Go was on the BB already when I got it from Verizon. It allows reading/Editing of docs but you must pay to CREATE them on your BB device by upgrading to the next level.

Also I have been having fun with BB Messenger- installed already on your BB

Verizon has IM software that connects to Yahoo, MSN Messenger, and AIM (FREE Package) so that is installed as well. Seems ok, could be done better. Shape Services had one for the TREO I had and I used it daily. Did not see one on their site for the BB though.

Hope this helps you

Steve

JS & Steve,

Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it!

I installed:

Opera Mini, Love it! (still use the default one for certain things)

Google Maps, Wicked Awesome!

I've been using BB IM along w/ AOL IM

I also upgraded the OS to 4.5.0.131 over the weekend and it went off without a hitch.

Thanks again, and keep suggestions coming

Bren

I think if you email yourself a blank MS Word document and a blank MS Excel spreadsheet. You can "edit" them and then "save as"... You know what I mean?

Oh, forgot to mention some handy apps;

jMirc - IRC client

vlingo (free)- speak into your phone and it will translate into a TXT msg for you.

Profiler($) - allows you to set predetermined times for your BB to switch your Profile. Ex. Auto will switch to Silent at midnight so u sleep uninterrupted and switches back to Loud at 7am when you wake up.

Not Now ($)- can automatically send a SMS to callers who u don't answer in time. Ex. You turn off ringer during a Dr appt. U setup a message that says "in w/doctor until 3pm - will call ASAP".

Ascendo Data Vault ($) - like the standard Password Keeper on steroids! I love it.

beyond411 (free)- enter your home adress and then search on a resturant or store. Instant phone number and can even give you a yahoo maps location.

I put something on called e-Mobile Preview that I got through handango.com and it works great. Especially when you're looking for an e-mail coming you way.

K - here's mine.

AutoStandBy - Can get 2.5 days out of my battery with medium to heavy use. It is problaby the most Efficent app I have.

BBAlerts - An Awesome app. No need to turn on or unsuspend my BB just to see if I have msgs. I can tell just by looking at the Color of the LED if I have an E-Mail (and from certian people), an SMS, MMS, Calendar Alert, Task Alert, etc.

Windows Live Search Mobile - A great free app from MS. I'm not big on Windows anything, but this app is quick to find anything I need using my gps. I can then call it, drive to it, add it to my contacts and more.

Other than that, I use the standard BlackBerry Apps.

Round 2:

Installed BeeJive (thanks for the recommendation JSConyers) Still in the 30day free trial but I uninstalled that POS Verizon application that uses sms messages for IM's.

Also installed Slacker Radio. Looks promising! I live on 70's Rock so I found that one immediately! :D

Google Maps - love it, though it seems the new version 3.0.1 has an issue finding your location quickly (looking for previous version installer out there somewhere)

Going on the road this weekend, so I will get a chance to live on the berry for 5 days and see how I handle life without laptop. Hmmmmm
