Default Adding Contacts to BBM via email or pin

Please Login to Remove!

simple questions, what the difference??

I've added everyone by pin because well that seems to be the consensus, but why not add via email??

I just got a new BB and for some reason when I did the switch BB via DM it didn’t update my contacts with my new pin. I had to re add everyone and they even had to del my old bbm contact.

Adding via PIN seems much more reliable and you run into less problems down the road.

Depends what you consider secure. I would prefer to give my PIN out over an email address.

I have a question on this subject as I've never tried adding a contact to BBM via email. What if the email address is linked to more than one device, would each device that has that email associated with it get an invite?

I don't use my bb email for anything, so not a big issue if i gave it out......just curious if there was a reason everyone adds via pin and not email, and by the sounds of it...there isn't

I've always added by pin, purly for the fact that some of my friends aren't as clued up on BlackBerrys as alot of the folks in here, so if they saw the email on their pc client (outlook/notes) then they wouldn't really be sure what it was for.

Email is less secure than PIN, but at the end of the day, it's not a big issue.

jsconyers,
I'm not honestly sure what would happen, I suppose it would probably let you add them on the first BB, but then refuse on the second, but that's just a guess, might be worth trying one day!
