while on phone, intermittent dead air

i have a 8310 and 4.2 software
while on call, Every few seconds i get dead air and then the phone call is resumed. It is annoying. The person on the other side just hears dead air and then me talking again. I have removed the sd card and rebooted. It doesnt matter whether i used the Bluetooth or phone or phone on speaker.
please help
