Default Need help with Device and Desktop software

Please Login to Remove!

My pearl (from day one of release on tmobile!) just died and i'm using my girlfriends old Curve that I unlocked.

Her curve (now mine) is the red ATT 8310.

What i was wondering (since I haven't been following the news) is what version of desktop manager i should use and which firmware to use? It is currently running 4.2 and I currently have desktop manager version 4.2.

Thank you all so much!

Here is the most current OS for the 8310.

I would use DM 4.7 w/o Roxio Media Manager.

If you're not having any issues with your current OS, there's no need to upgrade unless you want the features in 4.5. HTML email, Docs to Go, voice/video recording, youtube are some features in this release.

As long they are both working as you want it to, then I see no reason to upgrade. Now there are many here who will disagree and say go to the latest and greatest. But if the device isn't broken, then there is no need to try to fix it.

As for the latest OS, check the sticky at the top of this section for the latest OS for your device and instructions. Remember, the OS is device specific so you will need one for the 8310, not 8300 or 8320.

The latest DM is 4.7 which seems to be pretty good, as is DM 4.5 and 4.6. But if you are using Windows 2000, Office XP, Office 2000 or an earlier version of Office, you will need to stick to DM 4.2 as the others are only compatible with Office 2003 and 2007 and XP/Vista.

What is the difference between desktop manager 4.6 and 4.7?

I do want the new features in 4.5 OS, but I want one that is reliable...i worry about the Beta releases.
