Default Eliminating Suretype

Please Login to Remove!

I have Multitap set as my Portrait View Keyboard. However, I regularly find when I start typing in Portrait View, I find that SureType is working instead. I have tried resetting this in Options and Set-up many times, but it still keeps happening.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and, if so, is there a solution? Is there in fact a way that the SureType file can be deleted, since I cannot see myself ever wanting to use it?

What OS are you running? At some point one of the newer "leaked" versions allows you to select which portrait keyboard style you want. So far mine remains the way I have chosen/selected. In the past, if I tried to change the language to multi-tap, that setting would always reset on me.

As far as removing the suretype completely off the device, I'm not sure that is possible.

I am pretty sure you really do not want to remove the Suretype keyboard even if there is a way. I have found that many of the apps I purchased are designed for the bbs with a physical keyboard and will only work if you use the suretype keyboard. The multi-tap will not work for those apps/games. Just FYI

I've run into the same problem, and find it most annoying when trying to dial by name from the phone app. I called RIM T Support, the tech walked me through the 'solution' but suretype always comes back. I agree with a previous post that deleting it is probably not a good idea, but sure wish the device would remember my preferences. Hopefully the next OS release will address this...

I use the full keyboard in both landscape and portrait modes. Any OS .99 and up have that feature and if you don't have sausage fingers I'd recommend it.
