Does anyone know a good media player that will shuffle items on a playlist?

That is true. However, in my experience it shuffles the entire library not items on the playlist.

I have my music divided up into different folders (for different genres), and I can get it to shuffle for the particular folder I'm listening to instead of the entire collection.

My experience has been that if you select your Playlist to play and then have Shuffle activated, it only shuffles from the Playlist.

That has been my experience.

It is also not a true shuffle, as it just reorders the songs according to some pattern. Every time you play music, the songs will be "shuffled" in the exact same order every time.

I find it very annoying when I know which song is coming up next.

My Motorola V3xx has a true shuffle where it truly randomizes the playlist.

Did you activate the shuffle feature in your media player?

I have shuffle turned on and it shuffles the playlist. It also doesn't shuffle in the exact same order each time.
