Default Pearl as a modem help

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking for updated instructions to use my BB as a modem without having to use Verizon's crappy software and paying the extra fee. I have tried some of the instructions on previous threads with out success. Any one have any ideas.

Welcome to the forums.

I don't think you'll find many that will help you try to cheat the system by not paying the fee that Verizon requires for tethering. I would suggest taking a look here:
Using BlackBerry As Modem - BlackBerryFAQ

Thank you for the response. I am not trying to cheat anyone. I have the unlimited data plan with my account, it's just Verizon now wants to tack on a another 30 dollars to use their software. I am already paying for the usage.

While with a coworker that also had a blackberry I discovered a nifty little program called sprint smartview. He had a Sprint blackberry and mine is an Alltel 8130esn version. I have not confirmed that this works on all blackberry's but we discovered that you can use ANY carriers phone with this program. The other neat thing about this, it uses your data plan, you do not need a separate plan for internet access. I have checked my bill and have used it for almost 6 months with no problems (although my data usage as stated on the bill is maxed out at 9999999999). I would suggest having an unlimited data plan, plus I get about 60-90 KBps with a full signal, 40 with two bars.
