Is there a place to find an explanation of the phones that are compatible with each carrier in the US? 3G, GSM, etc

Phones with a "30" in the number are CDMA phones, i.e. 8830, 8330, 8130. The 9530 is both CDMA and GSM in the US. The 8703 is CDMA.

Those with "00", "10", "20" are all GSM.

With the 8700 series the "c" was Cingular and the "t" was T-Mo, but then there were other letters such as "g" and I don't really know where that one fit.

Can't say that for the 7xxx series however.

The 9000 (Bold) is the only 3G GSM model so far. The CDMA versions generally supported EVDO so they are 3G with the 8830 (I think), 8330 and 9630 being on Rev A.

Not sure if ther eis a site that covers the differences or not. The best way is to checkthe carrier and see which devices they offer.

Actually the 8700g was the T-Mobile 8700.

If a BlackBerry has a model number ending in 10, it has GPS. If the model number ends in 20, it has Wi-Fi. Some BlackBerrys don't go by that and have GPS and Wi-Fi (8900 and Bold.)

The 8707g/h/v, Storm 9500/9530, and the upcoming 9630 are also compatible with UMTS (3GSM), although they do not function on UMTS in the United States.

As with *all* BlackBerry naming, it was inconsistent.

The 7100t/7105t were T-Mobile, but they sold the 8700g (generic or global, who knows). The 83xx didn't have letters at the end (that ended with the 87xx. Of course there was also a 7130c (Cingular) and 7130e (CDMA) which totally screwed things up.

Lately the numbering has gone in a different direction, with the 8900 (Wifi and GPS, no 3G) and 9000 (WiFi, GPS, 3G - but not for T-Mobile) have come out.

To the OP - I've never seen a nice concise list.
