Question Bolt 1.6

Please Login to Remove!

Does anybody know how to make it the default browser? I can't find that option. and all reviewers were saying that was the biggest feature of 1.6

You have to download the BB Launcher app as well from Bolt in order to make it the default browser.

From Bolt's website:

BlackBerry Launcher for BlackBerry devices having BlackBerry OS version 4.3 and above that sets BOLT as the default browser for opening links in plain-text emails and SMS/MMS

So, it won't work in HTML emails. Only plain-text emails and SMS/MMS.

I installed it and removed it. My convenience keys don't work at all when in the Bolt Browser, and that's a deal breaker for me.

I tried Bolt for the first time today and found it to be particularly useful in combination with Google Reader. I may just leave Bolt open all the time with the Google Reader page, so that all I have to do is hit refresh to get my updated, unread, RSS feeds.

I tried running Google Reader on the Blackberry browser but it is so slow and the type so tiny that it was essentially unusable for me. With Bolt, I have magnification set at 3XLarge and the text for Google Reader reflows to fit the screen. That is the killer feature of this browser in comparison with the Blackberry browser.

In experimenting, reflow doesn't work so well with more complex web sites but for single column sites like Google Reader (the mobile version), it works great and while not super fast, it's fast enough (and way faster than the Blackberry browser).

If there is one thing that would make Bolt turn from good to awesome for me - it would be if there was an option to automatically refresh the screen in the background every so often (10 minutes? 20 minutes?). Then every time I went to Google Reader, I wouldn't have to hit refresh and wait a few seconds.
