OK: for me, the novelty has worn off. Long live the 9000.

I picked up a 9700 a few weeks ago. It is a beautiful device. The camera is fantastic. Battery life is better than the 9000, and the 5.0 OS has some nice new features.
For me though, the primary use for a BB is reading and composing e-mail. For that, for me, the 9000 is a better device. Every time I use the 9700, I wish for the 9000's larger keyboard and wider display.
At $100, the price sure is right for the 9700, but if you're primarily interested in a e-mail device, my advice is to stay with the 9000.
With the latest 5.0 beta OS loaded, and its "better" size, I think the 9000 is the winner in this contest.
My .02.

After the carrier, and after the device features, it boils down to personal preference.... How does it feel in your hands. I miss using my 8700g, but the additional functionality of the 8820 is it for me, even though I've never been crazy about the keyboard. Now I'm waiting an hoping for a next gen BB w/o a camera.

It's this kind of statement that basically transforms your otherwise decent post into a pile of poop.
I am primarily interested in an e-mail device. I send/receive hundreds of email messages a day. That's why I own a BlackBerry.
Maybe my hands are smaller than yours... or maybe I want a smaller device... or a trackpad instead of a ball... etc.
You have your preferences, and other people have theirs.
The 9000 isn't a "better e-mail device" than the 9700. It's just different.

I think there is almost universal agreement that the 9000 keyboard is better, even for smaller hands. Corollary, very few if any will say the 9700 has a better keyboard. So, in short, my post, as worded, is correct--the 9000 is a better e-mail device, even if you have chick hands, like you.

Universal agreement?
By what measure?
So you like the 9000 (I HATED IT) and I like the 9700. Sounds like there is no universal agreement. Not even wihin this thread.
And, as a T-Mobile customer, I very much appreciate the UMA features of the 9700.
Don't generalize. It's ridiculous.

No, thank you. I had the 9000. Glad I now have the 9700.

No, there is not almost a universal agreement, unless you are referring to you and your one friend that agrees with everything you say. Then in that case I suppose there is a universal agreement.

More than a few. I'd bet on that. As a matter of fact, review this thread... the majority disagree with you. Oops.

In short, I deem your post as worded to be incorrect. I also deem your post as worded to contain too many commas.

Er... no. My fiance, who ironically enough has "chick" hands, likes the 9700 more than the 9000. Perhaps the problem isn't "chick" hands... perhaps the problem is you have what is known as "sausage fingers" and therefore require a device with a larger keyboard? Just a theory. I have other theories about you, but I'll share those some other time.

Here is a perfect example why I personally think that BlackBerryforums is crap. You all are so immature. I will no longer waste my time visiting BlackBerryForums. You all must have penis envy towards each other.

How do you get a 9700 for $100? They sell here for over $600.

I loved the 9000, right up until the last dregs of its pitiably small memory, so I gladly upgraded to the 9700, which I also love. There is somewhat of a learning curve with the track-pad, and a few nits like having the suspend/mute button on the top where I'm apt to accidentally trigger it, but overall it is a sleek and smooth unit and I really appreciate the added memory and speed. The keyboard is essentially the same, in terms of operating, as the 9000's. It may be smaller, but not so's you'd notice, and I'm clumsy and thick-fingered.

I can't say that I agree wit you, but from the specs it does seem that you're right...keyboard on 9000 is wider, thats why it's easier to type on it than on 9700.
9000 is 2.60 inches wide (66mm)
9700 is 2.36 inches wide (60mm)
...but everything else I don't know because I haven't had the pleasure of holding 97000 yet.
