Default going to upgrade today, need some advice!

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,

I'm going to upgrade to a 9700 within the next few hours, and needed some advice (particularly from 9000 users, who have switched to 9700).

I've always said that if they came out with a Bold, the size of a Curve, It'd be a perfect phone -- so sure enough, when the Bold 9700 debuted, I wanted it right away.

I'm currently using a bold 9000. I love everything about it, EXCEPT the size (too big), and the crappy trackball (pocket dust?). Should I switch over to the 9700? What am I getting myself into?

Thanks!
Jared

I did not like the size of the Bold - the 9700 fits the bill for me.
The trackpad is great.
Go for it. The 9700 is a great BlackBerry.

Just tried it out in stores. Not sure if I like how small the keyboard is. Also, the price jumped to 100 -- was 50 two days ago. 100 on top of the 75 dollar early upgrade fee, I dunno if I feel like spending that kinda money on something I'm unsure of. Any other opinions?

Should you switch? Only you can decide that. Is it worth the money? Will you then have to have the next latest and greatest?

Default To Upgrade or Not to Upgrade

I too thought the 9700 was cool. My 9000 seemed like a brick compared to the size and weight of the 9700. However after less than a week, I soon realized that, for me, the 9000 fit better in my big paw. The 9700 keyboard ended up being to small.

Despite wanting the latest and greatest, I switched back to my 9000. I've not regretted the change back to the 9000.

My first blackberry, and after using the trackpad, I was sold.
I wanted the 9000, but it had a trackball and it was huge. Glad I had to wait.
If you don't already know, the whole top is basically a button. Well, two actually.
Dust from my pocket always gets stuck in the gap between the top and the screen!
I always have to use a corner of a sheet of paper to get it out.
That's my only complaint. Other than that, best phone ever!

Seems BB didn't like the 9000 very much either or the 9700 would have been the same size...just thinking out loud.

I keep my 9000 in my pocket right now. Try getting dust out from under the trackball (preventing it from moving!) . I'm gonna try out the 9700 in stores one more time, and see how I like it...also, I'll be giving a call into cust service to reduce the price back down to $50 -- ahh the beauty of being a 15+ year customer.
