Question How to get address book off my old 8820 ?

Please Login to Remove!

My company upgraded me to a curve from an 8820. Both on BES

For some reason I have about 100 address book entries on the 8820 that did not sync with exchange before the 8820 was removed from the BES server. These were all entries that I had added to the device itself over time. I did not notice that they had not synced with exchange until after I got my new curve, which did not have these entries on it.

How do I get these off the 8820, in any form, onto a computer, so I don't have to manually type them all in one by one?

The 8820 won't connect with desktop manager (v 4.5) - says "DM failed to connect with device". I presume it's the IT policy preventing it?

The 8820 is running OS 4.2

Thanks very much for any help with this

On the 8820:
Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ
Then try to sync to your personal Outlook or do a backup of the device.

If you will can't connect, please report back here.

Thanks for the reply

On the faq page you linked

Method 1 does not apply as the 8820 is running OS4.2 and I cannot update it as I can't connect to DM. Besides, all the data will be wiped

Method 2 does not solve this as this too involves wiping the device, this defeats the purpose of what I'm trying to do.

Is there a way to remove IT policy without wiping the data on a device running OS 4.2?

As a follow up to my post above -

The 8820 won't connect with desktop manager (v 4.5) - says "DM failed to connect with device". I presume it's the IT policy preventing it?

So there's no way to do a backup nor is there a way to use either of the 2 methods to Remove IT Policy
