Does anyone know of an IT Policy that would prevent tethering via USB Cable? I am running BES 5.0 SP 1 and attempting to tether various 8830's using Verizon Access Manager. When I attempt to tether with a phone and VZ Access Manager the device password prompt keeps appearing stating 10 tries remaining and therefore will not go any further in the tethering process. However when I change the users IT policy from our standard user policy to a less restrictive policy then I am able to complete the tethering process.
Any ideas of which policy is preventing this error?
You can't connect to the device via USB without entering in the password for the device. And for those that have a "numeric" password (ie 1234), it's not really 1234, it's "wers".
Yes correct. But when the password prompt appears, i or the user enters the device password. If incorrect it will then display 9 attempts remaining and so forth however when the correct password is entered the box reappears asking the password again with 10 attempts remaining and continues to do this forever even with the correct password entered. I finally changed the user's IT Policy to a less restrictive one which stopped the issue however I need to determine which setting in the main IT policy is creating this issue.
I have users that tether with passwords (as they are required) and thy don't have any issues.
Say the passowrd is pass1. The user plugs in their device, launches VZAccess Manager, enters in passw and clicks Connect.
Have you tried to tether on another laptop? What version of DM and VZAM are you using?

I have tried this multiple users and mulitple computers. It not a password issue because when I change users to a less restrictive policy then this is no longer an issue. We are using the latest version of VZAM. The end users are not using DM.
What do you mean by less restrictive? No password on the device?

I am experiencing the same issue as CyphrMedic. I even updated the 8830 to the lates MR6 code and still the same issue. The user said with an older version of VZ Access Manager this used to work fine. Has anyone asked Verizon?
Thx,
Jon
