Hi,
I am new to Blackberry, today I bought the 8520.
When I first put in the battery I got a blank white screen with a clock like icon which seemed to last quite a few seconds.
Is that okay? [I once purchased the Pearl and all it did was that screen and wouldn't work - so now I am worried this one's faulty too.]

Also when I charge the phone with the phone turned off, how will I know when it's charged?

Yes, it means its booting up.

When off, the phone will display red/orange led when charging, and green when charged.
