Default Browser loading very slowly

Please Login to Remove!

My Curve is a year or so old. The browser has never exactly been what I'd call "fast," but over the past few months it has grown unbearably slow. On average, I'd say it takes 2-3 minutes to load a page, and sometimes longer. I live in New York and often rely on my phone for phone numbers, addresses, etc. while out on the street, so this is highly inconvenient.

Is there anything I can do to speed up browser performance, or is it simply because the device is no longer brand new? (I've also noticed that the battery capacity has diminished quite a bit. I rarely make more than a short phone call or two, and my battery is still at less than 50% capacity by lunchtime, and often dies by the end of the day.)

I'm planning to switch to iPhone but am trying to hold out until they open up to Verizon, so not really interested in purchasing a new Blackberry.

Suggestions?

Apps? Other than BBAlerts, I just have the basic stuff that came with the phone.

I've tried the battery pull--my phone freezes every week or two, and a pull is the only way to fix it--but not clearing the cache. I'll see if I can figure out how to do that...

So I tried the battery pull and clearing the cache. I'm not sure if it made things any faster, but it did change something else, and I can't figure out why (or if it means anything anyway!)

After I did the cache clear and battery pull, I noticed that my e-mail icon is now completely different. The old icon (I'm using the standard Verizon theme) has been replaced by what is basically a white outline of an envelope, with a little yellow letter in front? All of my other icons have remained the same, but this one is different. Did I mess something up?

It seems the theme may have changed or the memory was in need of a refresh. If it works ok now then fine. Check options you want and make the changes. Also do a search on the forum for xxx8220;how to clean memoryxxx8221; it is wise to do this once in a while.

The theme didn't change--I double checked, and I'm still set to the same classic Verizon theme. Only thing that changed was the e-mail icon, and I have no idea why. I thought maybe I messed something up.

Otherwise, the browser is still as slow as it was before. Last night it took about 3 minutes to open a page--I finally gave up and got out my laptop!

Perhaps I should stop waiting for iPhone to open up to Verizon, and just switch to AT&T?
