Thumbs down When is Wifi Used?

Please Login to Remove!

Storm2 Verizon 9550.

My house seems to live in a bad spot. I see 3-4 bars with 3G coverage. Then when I try to browse web or other data apps, the signal bars immediately drop to 0-1 and 1X usually replaces 3G. Of course web pages, if they come up at all, take 30-60 seconds each time. Calls are fine.

I turned on wifi, and it connects to my network. However, it still seems to fumble around trying to use 3G. Wifi should be very quick (very fast connection, great wifi coverage), and it works great on my many other wifi devices.

Is it really still trying to use 3G when wifi is connected?

Data services will use WiFi if it's available. You can tell if you're authenticated via WiFi as the WiFi logo will be lit bright white as opposed to "greyed out".
Voice services and text messaging will not use WiFi on Verizon Wireless. They will always use the carrier network.

You can turn off your radio by unchecking "Mobile Network" in the connections screen then try the browser to see if there is a difference. There is no difference with mine, just that it takes forever to load almost any page either way.
