Question 7290 Theme question.

Please Login to Remove!

O.K. my sincerist apologies for posting something I am sure has been posted a million times. I have read through a lot of the previous threads on the subject, and the Blackberry guru talk just makes my head spin more.

So here is my issue. I purchased a 7290. I used my phone to download the "Bliss" theme. After downloading I went to the themes section on my phone, and it was not there.

so I went to options/applications, and found the theme I installed. my question is how do I apply it? I can't figure out how to get it to themes, or maybe I should delete, and try it again using the BB desktop manager? I have no idea how to use that either :(.

Also is there any flaws in the 7290? I purchased this particular phone with absolutely no knowlege that their was more then one model of the BB. So was this model a bad choice?

I am having problems downloading mp3 tones to this phone to. Is a phone with this much technology not compatible with that type of audio format? I am thinking I am limited to poly tones.

Someone please help!

Limited to poly tones.

As far as themes, you should probably search the forums for OS 4.1 downloads. This will help in the way of activating themes.

That is what Corey is trying to say, search for downloads of the 4.1 OS on this same forum, read about it download it, install it, then look for themes.

Ah I see thank you very much for the help. Will that enable me to use mp3 tones, or just download themes?

I am thinking the tones compatible with the bb have to do with the phone not the OS though, and do you guys think the 7290 is a pretty decent phone?

I have the v4.1.0.8 Desktop Manager and I have v4.0.2.49 Device Client. I do not see the v4.1 Device Software for my 7290. Am I missing it? I have Cingular Wireless and have the latest software from their site from Mark's Big FAQ.

I cannot load the free v4.1 themes offered on the Blackberry Help! site.

Not all carriers/locations have a v4.1 download available at this time. If you do wish to download 4.1 OS, then (a) realize it'snot fully supported by your carrier at this time (if that's the case, and it sounds like it is), (b) they likely won't offer support for issues that might be 4.1-specific, and (c)you are installing at your own risk.

I have a 7290 through T-Mobile and under "Themes" the only one I can select is "Default." I'm operating on 4.0 (4.1 is not yet supported by T-Mobile, I think) so does that mean that I can't download any other themes and am stuck with the ONE theme that the device came with?

Thanks!

If you search there are a few themes you can download for the 4.0 OS, but that having been said, you can use another provider's OS to install on your 7290. Just make sure that you delete the vendor file after installing it on your pc (do a search on the c drive for it) and prior to connecting your handheld to the pc. At the top of this page there is a button called BlackBerry FAQs and if you search there for a section called OS Upgrades it will lead you to where you can download from and also give you more detailed instructions on how to upgrade. Then you can start downloading all sort of themes (make sure you also install the plazmic theme reader along with new themes).

Aloha, nui, nui. Mahalo leilani.
