Just wanted to take a poll on how many users here have a blackberry device they pay for and a cell phone or have converged into just one device for voice and data.

When I was using the 7290, I carried a separate cell phone. With the 8700c I was able to eliminate the cell phone.

I would so carry a mobile phone as well as my BB 7290 but the prices for another plan / SIM card down under are insane. Not worth it.

Such a waste of my Samsung z500.

Cheers,

I carried both for a long time.
When I switch to just using the Blackberry, I realized what a pain in the behind it had been to have both.

I use just a BlackBerry. First of all, I think that my 7290 does a great job as a phone. Also, I find that everyone I know has 1 of about 5 cell phones out there today - I like to be different!

BB 8700c on Cingular and Motorola E815 on Verizon. The BB is the primary device.

I use my 7520.... The only thing that is a pain is if you are useing it as a phone with out a head set getting to your info sucks!

I use on my 7100I but am waiting till my company opens up the BB to other providers. Bad Nextel Service in my area will make me switch. I loved the radio. With that said, my companies policy of charging for personal calls will make me get a pre paid cell phone to cover those personal calls. Personally I would rather just have one phone.

I don't have a second voice-only device. But I do have two BlackBerries. One for work and one for personal.

Unfortunately, I have to carry two devices: a Sprint phone for voice and a Cingular 7290 just for data. The only way I could foresee having a single device is if one of the following two things happen:

1. Cingular starts offering service in the Washington, DC Metro tunnels and stations.

or

2. Sprint releases my dream Blackberry: CDMA EVDO Rev.A (which, as I understand, will allow for simultaneous data and voice) with GSM/GPRS/EDGE backup for international roaming. Now, that'd be a killer device for Sprint and Verizon! Why won't RIM come out with something like this?

I carry a Nextel 7520 and a cell phone (Cingular). My company went a little cheap and only turned on the direct connect feature of our 7520's. Since everyone in the company has the same model, the company figures we can just DC, PIN, or email everyone.

I carry a BB and a separate phone.

Why? Because it makes it easier to look up data/info/appointments on the BB while on a call.
